Welcome To Islamic Studies

The Department of Islamic Studies was formally known as, Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies. It was established since the former North East College of Arts and Sciences (NECAS); it was transformed to form the very nucleus of Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies University of Maiduguri when the University was established and it took over the College in 1976. Since its inception, the Department offered degrees and Diploma courses in the disciplines of Arabic and Islamic Studies. From that humble beginning, the Department has risen to international lime light. In Islamic studies, courses were designed to cover the Basic Elements (in the study of Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh, Ilm al-Kalam Classical History Islamic, Philosophy, Islam in Africa, Islam in West Africa, Islam in Nigeria, Islam and Science, Islamic Moral Philosophy and Modern Developments in the Muslim World). The basic structures of the Islamic Studies curricula since its inception provide three and four year degree courses leading to B.A. (Honours) Degree in Islamic Studies. The Degree Programmes of Islamic Studies commenced in 1978/79 Session and the first batch of the graduates of the Department passed out in 1981/1982.

I am a Medical Laboratory Scientist and a Professor in Chemical Pathology. I am a lecturer and a researcher in Implementation Science University of Maiduguri. Producing accurate results that help in timely intervention and improve patient care, is my goal when I work on bench as a Laboratory Scientist. Discoveries during research, screenings and relating to those concern to find help or solution is the great fulfilment in life for me.
